Get Medieval! September 1st is the deadline for paper proposals for the Tolkien @ Kalamazoo sessions at the 49th International Medieval Congress which will be held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, May 8-11, 2014. The paper sessions are:

  1. Tolkien’s The Fall of Arthur: the publication of Tolkien’s Arthurian poem, how it relates to other Tolkien works, and its relation to Tolkien’s mythology.
  2. Tolkien’s Natural World and Science: Tolkien’s mythology in relation to its physical and scientific constructs:  plants, weather, cosmology, animals, geography, etc.
  3. Tolkien and his Medieval Sources: Tolkien’s medieval and linguistic backgrounds as sources for his scholarship and the construction of his legendarium

This is an excellent opportunity to show your stuff & represent Mythgard! Send your proposal and a completed PIF form to Dr. Brad Eden at brad.eden@valpo.edu by September 1, 2013.

    Suliad Mythguardians

    Just submitted my abstract proposal to Brad Eden. Going for the Tolkien and his Medieval Sources strand based on a element on my postgraduate research through Cardiff Metropolitan University on the Genesis of Tolkien’s Mythology.’ Fingers crossed it gets accepted. Be good to have a Mythgard gathering at Kalamazoo.

    Hey Mythguardians

    My paper abstract for Kalamazoo 2014 was accepted.

    My paper will be in the Tolkien and his Medieval Sources track and will be on – Approaching ‘Se UncuϷaholm:’ Tolkien’s Early Study of Anglo-Saxon Poetry and Prose As A Source for the Invention of Ottor Wӕfre.

    Very excited first time at this conference. Anyone else going?
