Final preparations are in full swing for Mythmoot II: Back Again!

This is going to be a Mythmoot to rival or surpass the first one. Music, art, and a wide array of topics in our presentation sessions–not to mention a pub quiz Saturday night emceed by Riddles in the Dark co-host Dave Kale–will make our second conference memorable indeed.

In order to give the conference center sufficient notice for its set up teams, the event registration window is closing at the end of the day (that is midnight Eastern Time) Tuesday, December 10, 2013.  If you’ve been meaning to register, don’t wait! Do it now!

Having just returned from this weekend’s Mythmoot, I wanted to thank Corey, Trish, Dave, Lexy, and everyone else involved in the collective effort and vision.

And in this spirit, I would like to suggest that someone among you might poll the attendees of this weekend to derive a consensus whether a conference held on the weekend of Friday December 19th would in fact be a deterrent. Christmas will at that point be a full week away, and the third movie will have just been aired on the 17th. A private screening could still be arranged on the 19th or 20th as a ‘second’ viewing, which to my mind can be an aid to discussion.

Obviously, the Mythmoot will need to be separate from the movies eventually if it is to sustain itself. But to introduce that independence before the last movie is to be aired feels premature, and potentially disappointing. It feels risky to subtract the excitement of the movie, from the intellectual pleasures of thought, conversation, and inspired quizzes.
